My US PS3 has gone tits up - no picture

Don't really know what happened as it worked fine yesterday but I turn it on and the green light comes on but not the blue one (I remember both should be on??). I don't get a picture at all - although the HDMI on my TV does pick up something it only shows a blank screen.

Son says he heard a looooooong beeps yesterday.

Can't be the TV as I plugged in my HDMI camcorder into it and it works. I don't have another HDMI enabled TV to test them on.

Have switched HDMI cables etc and still nothing.

It's one of the 80gb backwards compatible ones with all the mem card slots and USBs so don't want a new one. Anyone know what it could be?

Also - anyone tried these guys before:

Try plugging it into the TV using composite and resetting the video (Hold power button for a few seconds when switching on). Then set it back to HDMI.

This happens on mine periodically. Hope it works out.

I'll ask here instead of making a new thread... my US PS3 is also having problems. It was working fine last night, HDMI/1080p, but today I cannot get a picture over HDMI at all. I switched to component and that works fine though (though the XMB background is green - isn't it orange at this time? heh). I tried resetting the video but I still can't get a picture. My monitor doesn't go on standby (and it says it's getting a 480p picture), but it's just a black screen. I tested my 360 as well just in case it was the monitor, and that works fine. Really weird.

Edit: well, it seems to be working fine now. No idea what happened. I also read that the XMB changes colour monthly as well, which I didn't realise (thought it was always yellow).

Well, now I am sure that something in the PS3 HDMI output side is fried

I used the composite cable and it works fine but when I try to switch the video output to HMDI it still gives me a black screen before reverting to composite after 30 secs.

It is definitely not the cable as it works with my HDMI laptop.
