    Screen size question.

    Hey guys, quick question.

    I got a 17" 4:3 monitor and I want to upgrade to a 16:9.

What size would I have to go to to get the same height as before? I want to have the same size for 4:3 stuff if you get me.

    I'm thinking a 22". That right?

22" should be slighty higher than 17". IIRC when I first bought a 16:9 21" it had the same screen height of 17" 4:3.

Ah nice one mate. Thanks for that

I use mame and 2DF/GGPO quite alot and 4:3 is still very important! At first I thought a 19" would be sufficient but thats cleared that up.

Pythagoras: the square of the hypotenues equals the sum of the square of the two other side of the triangle.

        Your 17" 4:3 has a height of approximately 10" (17/5 x 3). A 16:9 WS with 10" height would have a width of just under 18" (10/9 x 16) and therefore a diagonal of just over 20" (the square root of 10 x 10 + 18 x 18). So the nearest standard WS monitor size is indeed likely to be 22".
