Safari 4 beta for Mac and Windows.

Downloaded this earlier today. Bl**dy 'ell it's fast. Seriously fast.

Some new features including a native look for the Windows version.

Safari is the world’s fastest browser. Enjoy more third-party extensions, powerful privacy protections and industry-leading battery life.

Just installed it on my work pc, seemed really sluggish. Couldn't be arsed fiddling around with it too much though, just another browser and I've already got about 6 installed.

It took a bit of getting used to, but I'm really impressed with it. Very fast and the new tab system makes sense.

What blew me away was the welcome animation. Nothing special on the surface, but when you look at the page code you see that it's done entirely with images and CSS3 animation, without any use of Flash. It shows what the upcoming web standards will be capable of once we get more browsers than just this to support CSS3 and HTML 5.

If IE8 can support CSS3 and HTML5 properly we may see the back of Flash and Silverlight sooner than Adobe or MS would like. Mind you IE8 at present is only targetting CSS2.1 and there is still a shedload of users on IE6 out there.

mm, I was enjoying safari 4 but it just crashed on me when clicking this very link, while having 8 other tabs open. its not bad though.

I find it hard to shake myself off firefox despite having a love/hate relationship with it, sigh.

The Webkit Nightlies are really fast & stable here. They don't have all the features of this beta (but I don't want tabs-on-top or need topsites, anyway) but they're much faster than the version of Safari I was previously using (think 40+ tabs open in a dozen browser windows, 4 year old G5).

I think it's what Apple is banking on, and a big reason why Flash on the iPhone hasn't materialised yet. If we can do all the same stuff, without needing a proprietary plugin that's a known power drain, that's all the better.

Also using web standards will degrade a lot more gracefully for people on older browsers than happens without Flash - if yours doesn't support the flashy (no pun intended) animations and stuff, it can serve you up a plain old text-based site without either simply not working or refusing to work unless you agree to update your plugin version. That means even luddites on IE old and new will still have a workable web.

DL'd this too and it is speedy, noticeably so over the old version.
