    Japanese Saturn questions

Been over 6 years since i owned a jap saturn but just bought a white one again, can't remember what voltage stepdown do i need?

And also can i use any Saturn RGB scart lead on it? i'm thinking yes but just want to make sure!

    Cheers

Your TV might have trouble switching to RGB if you use one of the scart cables that came with the UK machines.

I think I'm a little bit overkill for my Saturn Step-Down...I'm using my 300W one that I use on my Jpn 360 lol

I've never encountered any problems with auto switching using my UK Scart Cable so you should be fine.

Yep, the JP Saturn does not supply enough voltage to auto switch to RGB model (when using the UK RGB SCART lead). You will need to do that manually. In my case I had to have another device (my DC) connected into a SCART switch box at the same time to provide that switching sign needed for RGB mode.

When you say you ordered a UK RGB cable, do you mean an official UK one, or one that's just from someone in the UK? I found with my white Saturn, as has been said on here, that the telly wouldn't switch to RGB, but my weird Spider RGB cable I bought from Lik Sang worked fine.

I think chaoticjelly on this here forum does Saturn RGB cables that he's wired up properly to do the switching.

Its an official Pal one from Tak on here, if it doesn't work on my new machine ill just pick up a 3rd party one from somewhere i think.

Yes, correct.. most Saturn RGB SCART cables don't work on Japanese Saturns, official and Play-Asia ones seem to be the main culprits.

There is a big thread on here somewhere where I deduced specifically what the problem was, they use composite sync for the switching voltage, which on European and North American machines is stable and sufficient, but on Japanese machines wildly varied and is always insufficient.

Managed to track down 10 pin mini-DIN connectors a few months ago so yes I make Saturn RGB SCART cables that will work with all regions of Saturn..
