using my sf4 usb stick on mame

have sent my broken TE back and managed to get a SE, want to use in mame, ive plugged in and windows vista says its now ready to use, been to control panel and all buttone work and joystick works on the little windows test screen.

ive gone to mame, set it to allow controller to select game and on the actual game ive ticked allow controller, but cant get anything working in game

if it helps the little green light on the controller doesnt light up when plugged into pc

    any ideas
    thanx

You might need to tick Enable joystick input or change the controler mapping.

If the SF4 sticks registers as HAT switches then you'll need to use an external app like xpadder or joy2key.

    edit,

Various versions and different mame apps support different control input. MAME can be a pain in the arse at times.

Probably the stick registers as HAT switches.

Either download xpadder or use a version of mame that supports HAT switch input without you mucking around with config files.

downloaded xpadder and mapped all the buttons etc, it finds it as a street fighter stick, how do i make mame look for the config file i saved in xpadder?

          thanks for the help btw

Good good. Might be worth noting the extra bits you did so this thread isn't bumped by someone else trying to do the same thing.

Well then in a mame game you need to press tab then goto general settings & set it up I assume? As I had to with my 360 pad.
