american wii (help please)

Hiya, so i just got an American Wii, went to play a game and get "disc read error" the disc wont eject, I have found that i can get the disc out and the wii to read the game (Im playing Symphonia) but to do it i have to nudge the wii and hold it at a 45 degree angle or upside down (ala old ps2 laser trick), is this wii buggered or could the laser be knocked out while in transit or something, please help me

I'm not an expert on this issue (not heard of it before), but I would guess it's pretty much buggered, yes. There may be a way of fixing it; perhaps someone who knows of a way can tell you. If it is under warranty/would be cost-effective you should return it.
