Xbox 360 Elite HDMI sound anomaly

    Right.

Today, just received my RE5 red elite.
Now when hooked up through HDMI, i noticed (on the NXE dashboard) that not all the 'bleep' sounds, sound, when you move through different catergories. Like selecting marketplace, and going through the various blades. I could hear some sounds at their normal volume, but the other bleeps are at such a low volume, i have to turn the volume up to say '40' odd (where i usually keep the TV volume at 16-20)

Though when put through component, everything sounds normal, and i hear all the bleep sounds it makes when you select various options etc.

Anyone know what is up with it?

Is it possible you have a power save feature for HDMI turned on? So if you don't move anything for a few seconds, it'll take a second for the sound to kick back in. Or is it just random?

its not a sporadic thing. It seems pretty consistant.
i'll try to disable that power save, if it makes a difference (im not even sure if it's on or not)
When i'm moving up and down through the main listings, it sounds normal.
However, when i've brought up the guide, and selecting through the options, the sound is very very feint. yet when back on the main NXE it sounds semi-normal.

I'm going to see if using the little audio box attachment for external sound systems, though going to patch it through the normal TV stereo channels.

      *update*

      Well, i've found a workaround.
Just using the phono extention that came with the system, and changed the audio setup on the TV for HDMI to analogue instead of the default digital. That way, i've at least got normal sound.

Stumbled upon this thread - but this exact thing happens to my Elite via HDMI.

Don't want to change the sound to analogue as I have it routed to my amp for 5.1.
