    Problems charging a DS Lite

    Hi guys,

My Wife has been experiencing some probs with her DS Lite (I suspect it is a ploy to upgrade to a DSi).

When the charger is plugged in the power light on the DS blinks orange for a split second then goes off. I don't think it is a lose connection as it does the same thing each time the charge lead is inserted and fiddling with the connector doesn't make a bit of difference.

If I try turning the DS on while connected to the charger the power light alternately flashes green, red, green, red and then off.

I suspect the charger is ok but not sure if the symptoms indicate that the battery needs replaced or a fault with the DS.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks guys!

Sounds like the battery is shagged.

Do you have another charge cable you can try out? Seems the best way of narrowing it down.

I had this. I bought a replacement battery direct from Nintendo - I posted a thread about it somewhere... General gaming I think.

          Thanks for the replies

Have just tried a usb cable and it's the same.

ItsThere - managed to find your thread. Did Nintendo ask you for a note of the serial no. etc.? Reason I ask is that it's a US DS.

you could just get a high capacity one from the bay of fleas.. just make sure you get one with a ce mark and a tri-wing

            http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Replacement-Battery-2000mAh-Nintendo-DS-Lite-NDSL-Free_W0QQitemZ370182481058QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo _Games_Accessories?hash=item370182481058&_trksid=p 3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1687%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12 %7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1308

about £3 (just watch out for the safety CE mark)

I can't imagine you'll need a serial number, since they are essentially selling you a piece of kit, not replacing as faulty.

I bought a GBA SP charger for my US machine from them about 6 years ago with no problems. Even specifically mentioned it was a US GameBoy.

No they didn't - and I had to phone up so even if they do ask just say you are at work and you don't have it in front of you.

                  Thanks chaps!

After recently buying a '100% genuine' PSP battery on ebay that was a dud I think I'll probably go the Nintendo route for peace of mind.
