VGA or Component -> USB - is this possible?

I've been home from uni for the last week or so, and I've realised how much I missed my 360. With this in mind, I was thinking of a way to take it with me to uni, without having to buy a screen to use up there. I have my laptop, and that has a perfectly good screen.

My laptop lacks a VGA input, however. Does a device exist to allow VGA (or failing that, Component) input over USB? I know you can get a device to allow the Wii to be connected over USB (probably using some kind of capture device embedded inside the cable),

You can get a video capture card, will most likely be laaaagggggyyyy as feck though. Best off plumping for a cheap 19" TFT tho, probably be cheaper than a decent capture card!

I believe there are video input solutions for USB however... USB 2 is 60mb/s, that's 1mb a frame. 720*480 at 32bit uncompressed is 1.3mb a frame. it's only possible with heavy compression.

I can't see you getting a quality picture from it.

diamondmm.com is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, diamondmm.com has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!

It's meant as a video capture device but there's no lag if you're not recording. Even if you are recording, and even on my crappy laptop, there's no lag provided your computer isn't doing something resource-intensive.

        Sample video capture:

Just buy a cheap CRT. You can pick a decent 36" flat screen up these days for about ?50. Still get a decent enough pic through component.
