    Yes, 5400RPM will slow the whole system down.

    (my laptop has a 4200RPM, lol)

      Heat can sometimes be an issue with 7200 vs a slower drive, but usually isn't.

        I'm on ebuyer right now and they're advertising 250gb 2.5" 7200rpm Seagate Momentus sata drives for only £50 and 320gb for £59.

        Crikey, looks like I should get one, too! (currently on 320gb 5400rpm)
