Marvel at Ripley's green hair I remember dropping ?80 on that bastard only to be rewarded with PQ slightly better than the watching the VHS and scribbling in my left eye with a green crayon.

Haven't yet received my player, but I got my first ever disc in the post today - Cable Guy! A great film, one of the handful of Jim Carrey films that are actually genuinely good (along with the Truman Show and Dumb and Dumber). The disc... is amazing. The hole in the centre is almost as big as a regular dvd! Or a gamecube disc at least XD

I know it would be huge, but has anyone got a list of laserdisc releases? Or maybe just the last 50 or so released in America and Japan. Also, anyone know how many of the Bond movies were released? I'll have to get Goldeneye at least!

I'd always see them in HMV and Virgin. This was about fifteen years ago though! Can't believe you hadn't heard of LD until a year ago... were you hiding under a rock? Where do you think Dolby Digital originated?

I'm only 22, so I wasn't in the market for buying movies of any kind during their heyday, and even in America they were marketed mainly at video and audiophiles, of which I am neither. I just like old things from the 70s 80s and 90s. Even my girlfriend is 31!

I heard that there is a very rare Criterion laserdisc of one of the Bond movies which was quickly yanked because it features a very explicit audio commentary with the director, who lets his feelings about certain people (or certain groups of people?) known. I must hear it some day.

That is terrible news, considering out of all the ****ty novels, horrendous adaptations, bull**** remakes, and ****jizz games that gets pumped out of Japan's disgusting, sagging, mahjong playing ass, only Ring (1998 version) is actually any good. And they release the goddamn made for tv movie version on the best format ever? What a crime. I think we need another A bomb.

The man's clearly never heard of Selectavision.

Do you like laserdiscs? How about vinyl versions of them.
