Forgive my ignorance... are a "matched pair" 2 DIMMS that have been tested & sold together?

If you get decent memory like this

for ?88 each from overclockers, I don't think you'll have too many problems.

I'm using 2 no-name ?45 sticks from ebuyer I think, which work just fine at 166/333 but HATE any other speed. Even slower rates make them fall all over the shop.

I just got 2*Corsair 256MB pc2700 from overclockers. Should be fine for HL2, will get another 512 for Doom3.

As an overclocker Ive got this baby tweaked

Barton 2500xp overclocked at 2.4 ghz.

This means my cpu is running faster than the current available chips released by AMD. e.g. the 3200xp runs at 2.2 ghz. Temps - Idles at 44, and never goes above 50 at load.

            Abit NF7 2.0 Nforce 2 motherboard.

Fanstastic board. Can not be recommended enough. Easy to set up, and optimise. Ideal for overclockers. Very fast performance.

            1 gig 3200 twinmos ddr

80 gig UMD 7200 rpm Barracuda HDD

Radeon 9800 pro overclocked at 440/350.

The daddy gphx card which delivers outstanding performance. Bought the new thermatake Giant II Heatpipe/fan combo heatsink at the card is stable at the above clock. Note the stock speed is 378/335.

Chrome case, with fan controls. Coolmaster case blow/extract fans and a nice window with a blue cold cathode ray

LCD Monitor to top it off.

Performance of the system is very fast, and its great to think that its actually running faster than any stock amd system on the market.

I have a 3Ghz AMD Athlon XP. Currently I have a Geforce FX 5600 Ultra, but I will be looking to upgrade to either a Geforce FX 5900 or a Radeon 9800.
There is no 3gig AMD XP Mate. You must have the 3000xp which has a cock speed of 2.18gig, or 2.2 if you have the 200fbs version. You are right to ditch the 5600U, it will bottleneck your system.
