What interface do you use for PC driving games if you don't have a wheel?

I used to use an analogue joystick. Very small stubby thing that you could get real control over the movement with. What are the options now?

360 pad maybe? The problem is that no pc games are built with any other control systems in mind. Console games have assisted control models when using pads - you only really get full control of games like Forza or Race Pro with a wheel.

TBH on a PC think it's a wheel or nothing. I use the 360 wheel with mine as I don't have a surface to clamp it to and I can use it on my lap.

Is it easy to get the 360 pad working with my PC? Is it bluetooth?

Not sure about the "full control" of Forza - most of the top times are set with pads I think. Could be wrong. Although perhaps that's because of the assists.

Ah, does it need to be the wired pad?

Wireless one is double the price, though you could probably find them cheaper after hunting around online for five minutes.

To use a wired pad, you just plug it in and it downloads the driver from Windows Update. To use a wireless controller, you need to purchase the wireless reciever.

It looks like the wireless receiver is quite hard to find now, so you might be better with a cheap wired controller.
