    DreamKey 3 Dilemma

Good afternoon all. I have a problem concerning DreamKey 3, and getting my Dreamcast online.

I have sucessfully set it up before using my NTL account, and a European DC. I went to Game FAQs to get a couple of VMU files, but I was unable to download them. The help FAQ there said that you need a Japanese or US browser to be able to do this (although I have done sucessfully in the past). When I connected up my Japanese DC to try again, it reported that it couldn't even connect to my ISP.

What I would like to know is: is there any way to download these files using the set up I have (European DC, Japanese DC, Dreamkey 3 & NTL as my ISP). Any help here would be very much appreciated.

And before anyone says anything, I have completely replaced my PAL collection with Japanese versions, and I don't want to have to play hours and hours through games that I had already unlocked everything with! >_<

Is there any particularly reason why you want to use Dreamkey 3 and not the US/Jap browsers? I'm pretty sure you can DL them.

No particular reason, except that I already have DreamKey 3. Perhaps someone has a spare copy of the US version they could sell me?

I'm not sure whether you have done it or not, but on your Japanese Dreamcast you'd have to configure the dialup settings again, as some of these are stored in the Dreamcast itself.

The vmu downloads are .vmi files which contain some extra information about the save, rather than the raw vmu file itself. Afaik these vmi files are used by all the DC browsers to save vmu files, no matter what the region (US - PlanetWeb, UK/JPN - DreamKey/DreamPassport). So it shouldn't really matter which browser you use.

That's the odd thing. I initially entered my dialup setting for PSOv2 on my PAL DC, long before I had my Japanese model. When I tried the DreamKey 3 disc in the Japanese machine, it automatically came up with the same settings.
