[help] Laptop wireless weirdness

Help please! Laptop says it has full strength wireless connection and ip address etc. Except it won't browse interwebs or download email in outlook. If I press repair, it repairs it fine and everything works. Then some random time later it goes back to the same thing - connection appears to still be there accoring to the "wireless connection" info but it's not. (this used to all work fine).

The other laptop works normally. Any ideas?

I checked the driver, and it's v9 of the intel pro wireless. There is now a v12 which I downloaded, but when I apply the exe, it sits there for a while telling me it's applying the driver update and then disappears after 60 secs and the driver isn't updated. Awesomeness.

However, I did check the intel advanced menu on the device and the ad-hoc channel was set to 11 instead of 1 (my new router is on 1 - hmm new router bah.) so maybe that's it? Or not.... (I would have thought if it was going to cause a prob, it would stop it working completely). Neighbour is on 6, so 1 should be ok.

Having said that, my 360 wireless thingy is playing up too. Forgot about that. Had plugged in a network cable instead.
