Reccommend me a 46"+ LCD

I'm currently in the market for a 1080p TV for my living room.

Here's the kinda specs I'm after:

46-50"
1080p 100hz+
no problems with input lag

I've seen a lot of buzz about the Sony W5500 with it's good SD picture but I've heard input lag is more of an issue than on the W4500 (where it isn't an issue at all). Anyone able to recommend a set?

Great TV and have been very impressed with it. Nabbed it for £650 with a 5 year guarantee last October. Great for gaming on the 360 and PS3.

I've a samsung monitor and 32" in my bedroom and I'm chuffed with both. Heard a lot of good things about their more expensive models

Does it have to be an LCD? The current Panasonic G10 NeoPDP Plasmas (link is to my review) are absolutely excellent and have just about no input lag at all. And before you ask - no, don't worry about screen burn.

I can confirm the Sony W5500s have input lag (even in the Game Mode) and also some pretty severe response time issues with black objects. The most recent Samsungs have all had some too.

From what I've read, the Samsungs are about 40ms, the Sony is 100ms in non-gaming and 60ms in gaming. The problem with input lag is you can't see it in shops

i've recently got me a Toshiba 52ZF355D Full HD LCD TV which is probably the best value for money product i've ever had pleasure to purchase. excellent, modern slim frame design, very good sharpness and black levels (for a LCD), great sound (built in Onkyo speakers), DVB-T tuner, 100Hz and 24p compatibility. overall, i can't think of a better TV for the 1.600 Euros i've spent on it.

only thing that troubles me: my panel has a stuck pixel which is hardly noticeable. so most probably i am going to try to return it if it doesn't disappear.

Not sure about Toshiba, don't know too much about their range.

It's so hard finding out good reliable information about tellies. There's only a couple of sites that seem to do detailed reviews (google brings up nothing but search spam).

yep, you are right, it's hard to find good, reliable reviews. every review, despite buiding on technical facts or results, is biased though. however, the link above brings you to one of the most detailed reviews of the Toshiba available in the internet. just translate the site using babelfish or any other universal web translator.

So if the Sony W4500 had no noticeable input lag (which is the model I own), then what's changed for the 5500 to have such an issue?

It uses a more advanced processing engine apparently (has incredibly good upscaling) presumably that means it does more to images before displaying.

There's nothing special about the scaling in the W5500. I'm not sure why it has more lag than the previous generation, but there are all sorts of little issues that can add to it. TVs which feature 100hz systems typically have higher delay because they have to analyse and generate inbetween frames.

The W5500 does have a GAME mode which cuts the lag down, though.

Which one, the G10? No, the Pioneer 5090 is still better, but Panasonic's TVs are getting dangerously close. The Panasonics are also a LOT cheaper...

it wont take long and Panasonic will overtake them since they've bought all of Pioneer's TV technology licenses recently. it's a pity though that Pioneer gives up on the TV market.
