    360 Live points region questions

I recently bought a asian HDMI 360 60gb which is in my bedroom.

I also own a UK 360 Elite which is in the living room.

Both 360's are using the same 'phillai' gamertag.

If I buy Hong Kong/Japanese Xbox live points and use them on my gamertag on my asian 360, when I use my UK 360, will the points show up and can I buy from either my UK or asian 360 using the same gamertag.

On a different note as well, I noticed on Wednesday that Arkanoid came out out a full day before the we had it in the UK as I used my US gamertag of 'phillaius'.

I downloaded the US Arkanoid Xbox live demo.

Now, I restarted my 360 and logged in as my normal uk gamertag of 'phillai' and I realised that I could not only play this US Arkanoid... I could also buy it (as I had points already).

Is there any harm in buying a US game on a UK gamertag profile?

Thanks to all replies in advance!

No. The MS points are region-specific. The Japanese points can only be assigned to a Japanese gamertag, and indeed spent by one. In other words, its just like the PS3 - to be able to buy stuff from the UK, US and JP marketplaces, you need 3 different accounts, and 3 lots of points.

Arkanoid was available in the PAL marketplace on wednesday too, it was just kinda hidden away and not amongst the "new releases" bit. Hence you were able to buy it with your UK tag.

Strictly-speaking, this isn't possible, but if you buy something (say a XBLA game) with a US/JP profile, it'll be availble to play with your UK account. You'll only be able to play it on the console it was downloaded to though, so if you're going to buy something from the JP marketplace, make sure you download it via the NTSC-J machine and not the PAL one.

Kubrick, you've cleared up loads of stuff for me thanks and there is really no need tfor me to buy any other region xbox live points but what about this what you say though...

Let's pretend Arkanoid is not available for the UK market and I downloaded it from the US/Jap Xbox live using my US/Jap gamertag onto my asian 360 and I could buy it again, once I log on as my UK gamertag tag on the same asian 360.

Could I not download the game onto my memory card unit and put it and make it work on my UK PAL 360?

Plus, maybe buy it again using the points I already have on my UK gamertag?

      Sorry if this sounds confusing!

XBLA games are tied to both the profile used to buy them and also the console they were originally downloaded to.

Assuming you bought a game using your JPN profile and D/L'd it to your Asian 360 this would mean the following:

Asian 360 - any profile on your hdd / memory card can play the full game whether you are signed in to Live or not.

PAL 360 - you can still play the full game using your JPN profile but only if you are signed in to Live. If you are not signed in then it will revert to the trail version of the game.

I think you could also play the game on your PAL 360 with your UK profile but would need to have your JPN profile assigned to a 2nd controller (& signed in to Live).

        Hope this makes sense?

            No worries!

MS don't like to make life easy do they? Despite their many flaws Sony seem to have taken a much more 'user friendly' approach to managing content.
