Hello there, just trying to get to grips with the game, i'm about 3 hours in but still havent worked out what most of the items do and only just realised how the magic spells worked.

Right, well the little coloured orbs are spells, and you put them in the command list to make use of them. Yes?

I've worked out all the food, and the list that shows its effectiveness, and that you can also equip them to the command list. Anything else?

Things I dont have a clue about are:

Scrolls...

Diamonds...

What looks like bags of money...

Nuts...

Now you can sell all of these but there must be some use no?

Any help would be great.

The scrolls, diamonds and what looks like bags of money are used to forge new weapons and equipment if you go and see the blacksmith etc
