so you want el cheapo ram thats 1337

    thats never gonna happen !

Crucial is good as cheaper ram goes.

    then

Corsair, mushkin, kingston hyper x, ocz but noe are cheap !!

Incidentally i have some vanilla kingston and its running in dual mode no worries, it is ****e compared to my Mushkin for timings etc !!

If you want the best, then OCZ is probably what you're after, and overclockers sell it in matched pairs. 1 Gig for ?250 (400@CL2).

But will it give you anything more than Crucial? Probably not.

From what i understand OCZ ram is terrible. They basically use samsung chips that are filed down slightly to give them that extra performance, which as you can imagine is rubbish. Its also reckoned that they hand pick good sets for people to review and its hit and miss how it goes.

Supposedly good stuff cheap is Twinmoss ram with Winbond chips, komplett sell it, people on forums i read say its excellent for overclocking.

urgh that's really nasty, a mate at work has some & reckons it rocks... he must have been lucky. People have mixed opinions of TwinMOS too. Guess everyone has good & bad stories from every side.

I've always used Corsair ddr in all of my amd based pc's. At the moment i'm using the platinum twinX modules in 2 pc's and both are stable and smooth.

As far as i know Corsair use only the best ram chips they can get, and quality and performance are of a high level. I wont use any other manufacturers ram at this time, as i've never been burned by Corsair.

And I've just been burnt by Corsair. As a recent pimp of theirs, I decided to upgrade and grabbed a single stick of their 512 pc3200 with spd autoconfigured to agressive timings. Unfortunately, Corsair are apparently having issues with this SPD on a variety of boards, clearly mine included. Am just trying it on a more recent board now, but it's looking to be the same. Either way it isn't good enough, and for ?120 quid Komplett can have the damn thing back.

Can u not manually adjust the settings ?

I had to with my mushkin uber ram, also needed to chuck 2.7 - 2.8v thru it !
