    Oblivion PS3 - GOTY buggy?

    Hi there,

I was thinking of picking up Oblivion and was tempted by the GOTY version which (I think?) has a little extra content. Checking out prices I am concerned, however, by this review, which is quoted on the find-games.co.uk page for the title.

Anyone care to comment on whether it's really this buggy? To be honest, the amount of content in the original game is probably plenty enough for me, so maybe I just shouldn't worry about it. Thoughts?

It's a Bethesda game. Of course it's a bug ridden mess!
Not had any crashes on the GOTY edition so far.

Same here, although I haven't played any of the Shivering Isles stuff. Which is criminal really, I love Oblivion.

I presume you're referring to the issue jeimuzu came across in this thread?

As he says, it's a bug specific to the PS3 GOTY edition.

Well, in the link I gave he also says "mostly these bugs manifested themselves as game crashes, leaving you with no chance to save your progress and no warning".

It also looks like the vampire bug in the GOTY only shows up for some people & not everyone?

I find it a little bit of a dilemma: the original version is probably plenty game enough for me, and I'll never play all of it, anyway. So I don't need the GOTY edition. On the other hand, I hate to be "missing out" on stuff.

Someone just tell me to buy the regular original edition.

I bought the GOTY edition from Argos for £20 on the PS3 a while ago. Haven't hit any bugs - and certainly that Vampire one. Although If I'm honest I haven't invested huge amounts of time into it.

One bonus is that if you really enjoy the game and want to play the SI storyline you can always play them without having to rebuy the game. Mind you if the normal version is ultra cheap I guess that helps.

So I'd say buy the GOTY edition ;-p

EDIT - Actually in all seriousness the normal edition on PS3 does ome with Nights of the Nine, which is an extra over the other platforms.

Belive it or not, the vampire/bloodgrass glitch on PS3 GoTY has a workaround where you switch the system language to German, so I'd just go with that version.
