At last a workable Gaming Laptop

Couple of years ago I bought a Dell XPS m1330 thinking it would be good for games. Well it wasn't good it was workable just for strategy type games but forget FPS.

Started to look again in March and found a company called Clevo, www.clevo.com.tw . They are rebadged Sager in the US, Rock, Kobalt and Novatech in the UK. Also looked at alienware but there is a load of negative press about them on notebookreview.com especially about the 15" model.

I looked at the Rock Novatech and Kobalt forums and took feedback from a few folks and went with Kobalt - www.kobaltcomputers.co.uk

laptop took a while to arrive because Nvidia stopped making the 9800M and replaced it with the 260M so supply was as you would expect hard to start with. Something that the Kobalt guys warned me about.

Anyway machine arrived mid May and I have to say its awesome. It hits 10000 on 3d mark 05 and can play alot of stuff at high res full on including Farcry. With Crysis it can do almost full settings which is pretty impresive. Its 15.4" and a little heavier than I'd like but its mobile. Has built in wifi/bluetooth and the screen is 1600x1050.

Went on holiday and it was awesome to be able to play new and decent games whilst away and not have to squint at the DS and PSP for a week.

Now its not cheap but decent laptops aren't mine came to around ?1800

But if you are looking for a real gaming laptop then look no further than www.kobaltcomputers.co.uk

    Cheers,
    Neil.
