Will Sony fix an import PS3??

As per thread title really guys.

What with the advent of Sony's Pay & Play cover on PS3's will they replace an Import machine if it goes pop?

It was my Birthday yesterday & I did well enough to consider buying a 2nd hand PS3
It will mostly be used for Blu-Ray playback but will see some gaming as well.

Thing is ideally I want a White Japan unit & I'm just wondering if I should buy one & it breaks if I'm paying Sony's ?5 a month cover charge will they replace it with another one or will they tell me to get bent?? lol

    Ta muchly

I wouldn't pay that charge until your machine actually dies anyway (if it dies).

I know you don't want a PAL one because you'd like to play the JP PS1/PS2 titles or whatever, but Boris's PAL 60GB in the sales thread is a fair enough deal I think personally. You'll still have multi region PS3 title support, and be able to play PAL DVD/Blu Ray.

I'd prefer that to a JP system personally, but eh up to you.

No they won't fix it, best you can hope for is that if it dies then it's only the Blu-ray drive as you can usually source a replacement for that and install yourself.

Oh no it's not for Jpn PS2 playback I have my PS2 for that anyway
I want a white Japan unit purely for aesthetic reasons....they look so much prettier than the black things we get

To be honest I will probably just end up with a PAL unit anyway...easier to come by & judging by Pharfetchd's comment below will be a much easier fix if they do go wrong.

Also with the not so good ? at the mo for a change UK sourced Blu-Rays are actually cheaper & to be fair thats what the PS3 will be used for mostly so PAL will probably be the way forward for me.

Thanks for the help though guys.

They won't fix it, but you can gut it for parts and eBay them if something goes wrong.

Ah well could be a UK machine then at this rate.

I know they are more realiable then 360's but I'd still like the ability to get it fixed if needs be.

            Thanks anyway guys.

Maybe but the matching White pads look crap with their black buttons :-(
