    360 HDD Issue

Not sure if anyone can help, but thought I'd ask anyway.

Haven't played the 360 in a few days (what with work, live being down anyway etc), and although I've heard of issues since that maintenence, I've not heard anyone have ths happen, so I'm not sure if my 360 is dying, or it's LIVE issue.

I should mention that I've had issues with xbox.com (viewing profiles, my own, and others) over the past few days but today I fired up my 360, all seemed fine...booted up a game (Forza 2) and applied an update (hadn't played it aaaages). It updated fine, and I reconnected to live...then the 360 hung.

Rebooted the console...connects to LIVE ok, the XBOX LIVE logo is all there bottom right etc, then it goes back to the picture/logo thing, which suddenly freezes...as does the whole console.

I've tried this now 10 times, every time it freezes about 10-15 seconds after connecting to LIVE. Unplug it from live, reboot...and it's fine!

I can think of only 3 things:

    1. XBOX LIVE is playing up.
    2. That Update has buggered my console somehow.
    3. My console is dying and these are symptoms.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers in advance.

Doing some more testing, it appears to be my HDD that is playing up.

I transferred my gamertag to a Memory Unit, and everything is fine.

Is there any way of correcting the HDD without formatting the f*cking thing, and thus redownloading EVERYTHING, or is that the only solution?

    Cheers in advance.

Ok...rather strangely...transferred my profile back to my HDD and it all works fine now.

Can close this I guess...although I'm a little wierded out by why transferring my profile to MU and back to HDD solved my problem!
