Killzone 2 bug / glitch. Anyone got a saved game?

Hi there,

Has anyone else experienced a bug or a glitch where the game freezes up in Killzone 2?

I bought this on release, played through until the

ride on top of the train

, then didn't touch my console for 6 months. Now I came back to it, it told me the update needed installing, so I did that and continued until the end of that level. In the next level

I fell through the hole in the floor, into the "Lower Refinery Complex", kill a bug & three Helghast, then get on an elevator. At that point Rico tells me "I've taken over a control room, I can see you on CCTV"

, but the problem is that when I

get off the elevator

& proceed into the next area the game freezes up.

Walkthroughs tell me that there's a boss fight at this point, and sure enough it looks like a cutscene is supposed to play - as I walk into the area I stop and the field of vision swings up to the left like something is about to happen, but only the music plays, nothing else. The animation of the background (conveyors overhead) continues, but I'm completely frozen there, and I can't move or anything.

I've tried exiting the game & trying again from my last save - the same thing happens. I've tried rebooting the console. I've tried deleting the update & reinstalling it - the same thing happens. I've tried deleting the update, disconnecting the console from the internet, but then may save game isn't recognised, and I can only start again from the beginning!!

I guess this isn't a big deal to many of you - you've probably all experienced corrupt savegames on the memory cards of consoles of yore, but this is the first time this has happened to me, and it's a bit frustrating. I don't want to have to play all the way through from the start, because I'm rubbish, and it'll take me hours & hours.

Does anyone have any suggestions, please?

If someone has a save game from about mission 6 or so, can I copy this to my PS3 & play it?

If I can only find a completed save game from folks on here - can I go back to chapter 6 & play only from there?

This is going back along way and I could be thinking about a different game but I seem to remember that I had the same problem and the way around it was to start the level again. You could't do it with just any of earlier saves, it had to be the very beginning of the level.

It was a long time a go but it's worth trying.

If you're after saves, there are sites that let you download them and they usually have quite a few for each game, I'm not sure what the sites are but I imagine they're easy enough to find with a quick search. As you say though, most saves are probably going to be for completed games by now.

There are a some PS3 games which lock saves to the user ID that created them though which would prevent you from using somebody else's. If you do find one then the save will have to be for the same region of game that you own.

I usually keep multiple saves strolls. Find out if this would work and if it would then I'll see what I can dig up. My saves are all on the Veteran difficulty however.

I'm pretty certain that when you choose to play a particular level/section, when you then go to continue game, you actually continuse where you left off.

So, for example let's say you were at Visari's Palace at the end of the game and quit.
You then decided to play an earlier level for some reason.
So, when you then went to continue game, you wouldn't continue from VP which you may expect but the earlier section you just played.

...as an aside, since the last update, I keep getting chucked out of online with the network error 3 code, never happened before the update...

I had a look online and found people having the same problem in the same place. It's worth reading this one even if it's only for the spelling mistake in the original post.

Doing a search for Killzone 2 Tharsis freeze brings up a few results & restarting at the beginning of the level has worked for people and I'm fairly sure that's what I had to do too.

That's done it! Many thanks. Now just to get past this boss!!

Interestingly, it seemed like the last section of the level just before the glitch played differently this time. The Helghast seemed less passive & harder to kill.

I'm surprised that they've not fixed the issue yet though, it's happened to quite a few people and the game has had a few patches since launch.

Probably gets dropped down the list each time the hordes of online multiplayer people get the pitchforks out.
