    Shuttle PC ffor N64 emulation

I am looking at getting a PC for N64 emulation as the titles I want are not on VC and my collection is in New Zealand, while I divide my time between Qatar and China.

Any recommendations on I what I need in terms of processor, RAM and video?

How do you normally connect a computer to the television - I assume either SVideo or VGA?

    Cheers,

    Jaz

Personally I think shuttle PCs are horrifically overpriced. You could build yourself a machine of similar size that meets the specs you want for £250.

I remember ultraHLE running near full speed on a 350mhz

You want an mATX motherboard (a shrunk down motherboard). The chipset you want for the motherboard is a 780G (very popular HTPC boards) as they have a built in Radeon 3200 with offers you hardware video decoding as well as basic 3D acceleration (don't expect to play crysis on it but it'll cope with older games). Pair this up with and Energy efficient Athlon or phenom (you don't need a powerhouse CPU for your needs) such as the 4450e or 5050e and it'll be quiet and cool. 2Gigs of ram should be fine.

for PSU you'll want a 200-250W PSU, you can get those incredibly cheap but try to get one that reviews well and is quiet. In theory you could actually run a system like this off of a silent DC PSU (think the power bricks that you get with consoles) but it'd leave very little breathing room.

most HDTVs have a VGA input now but quite a lot of 780G mobos have HDMI output which is very handy.

Whenever I build a PC, which is always a Shuttle btw, I looks on Dabs for b grade items shown by the open box icon.
There are a few at the moment from the ultra basic K45 with integrated everything from <?50 to a nice SX38 at less than half price.
I have personally never had a problem with warranty repaired items as they have arrived in as new condition.
For N64 emus I think any recent CPU will be more than adequate.

I have a Z64 for sale in the classifieds that may be a solution for you
