Converter for dc arcade stock on pc? any suggestions

Want to use my dc arcade stick on mame for my pc, anybody got any suggestions on an adapter that will do the job?

    Cheers

Right now, the only way I've figured is to cannibalise a PS1 controller, wire the controls up to the buttons, and then use a Playstation to PC converter. Certainly, none of the commercially available DC-PC converters work with the stick, only pads.

      Try www.arcadecontrols.com

On the 'Examples' page, scroll to the bottom and there's loads of examples of converting sticks to work on mame including DC sticks.

There's also a good tutorial on how to hack the controls to use in your gutted stick.

Good luck and tell me how you get on

Really I've got a magic box from Lik-Sang and it works a treat.

Really? Care to link? I'd just love to be able to use all six buttons on the PC, but every time I've gone looking for something I've been told it only works with pads.

            OK

I've definately had a DC stick working on mine and charlesr has got one too. I've not tried SFII on it, only a couple of shootemups, but looking at the joystick testing thingy in windows it seems that all of the buttons and stick directions are mapped to something sensible,

Can't remember how you'd set this up in Mame though.

I'll dl sfII tonight and give it a whirl just to make double sure.

-edit- each magic box only supports one stick, so I suppose for 2 player action you would need 2 and 2 USB ports. This is something I can't confirm until charlesr is back from hols.

Sorry for not posting last night.

I did set up my system, and the stick in the windows test thingy has all of the stick directions and buttons mapped to Joystick buttons. Additionally they have mapped the stick to the HAT (Point of View) stick.

I downloaded streetfighter 2 and booted up mame. Unfortunately my GFX card is over a decade old and playing mame is problematic to say the least. Anyway I couldn't get it to work, because I couldn't work out how to configure the joystick in the mame interface. I know that this is just me being stupid, because I've had it working before with a shmup. Anyway the article posted by nigel1210 would seem to confirm that the new bread of magic boxes support the stick.

TITS I forgot to use the -joystick switch on boot up. What a dunce.

Also got the latest mame and roms on there way

Oooh - thanks for that. I'll order this weekend (have to do it from home, where the site isn't blocked).
