Buying PS2

I can buy one for 86 pounds in Bull Ring on Saturday a normal PS2.

What I need to know is

do the new one coming in a month time (Silver) that support progressive scan in games or movies or both. I am planning to get a new TV in November.

Is it worth spending full price for a lovely silver one with networking and progressive scan. Or I can buy one and then use it as trade in for new silver PS2 in Gamestation. (How much do Gamestation pay for Ps2)

I want to be able to play import games as I hate PAL games.

I may well be wrong, haven't paid much attention to 'new' PS2, but every PS2 from day one can output a Prog Scan signal for games if it's programmed in (Tekken Tag and The Getaway). That would lead me to believe that this 'new' PS2 would include Prog Scan DVD output.

both the old and the new ps2s support prog scan for games. The problem comes in that there are only 2 PS2 games that support prog scan.

The new version of the PS2 also supports prog scan for DVDs, so it depends if you need a new DVD player and want a quieter PS2.

How you getting the PS2 for ?86 at the new Bull Ring? Is it something you can let on?

The new Dixons XL store is having a silly opening day offer type thing. PS2s for ?86, 100 available from 7am for the first two days I think. I rushed down there this morning only to be told that they'd be doing that offer tomorrow.

Gamestation offer ?65ish for a PS2 I think so you're better off selling it using other means.
