Sega Saturn Backup Memory Cartridge

Hi!

Whats the difference between these two??:

I once read some discussion, but dont know when and where, they were discussing if the Saturn memory cartridges are Flash or RAM with battery backup. There was one picture and there was battery inside the white Saturn Memory Cartridge.

SO

PAL Saturn Memory Cartridge is FLASH and White Japanese Saturn Memory Cartridge is RAM with battery??? Maybe Japanese was manufactured first with battery, but when it came to PAL countries, they changed it to FLASH???

Dont someone of you know read Japanese and look on this picture, if there isnt written, if this Memory Cartridge is FLASH or RAM??

I have just a couple questions about the Sega CD and (official) Saturn memory carts. Do they work the same? (As in, does the SCD one support direct saving?) Does the SCD one work with all games? Do they use battery backup? EDIT: Note for people coming into the thread. This topic is almost a year old, and my questions have been answered. There's a new discussion going on at the end, though.
