LAN Party Help Needed

Im having a LAN party in the near future, im the host. I need to know what to look out for which I may have missed and any tips people can give. Its only going to be about 10 people with about 5 machines. Also what games go down well so far I have Counter Strike?

In the PC forum, dude!

- you'll want a 5 port hub or switch, with a matching number of ethernet cables (patches) of sufficient length.

- re: above, think about the layout.

- make sure that once you've agreed a games roster that everyone has it installed with the same patches beforehand. Two much time is spent at lan parties rectifying this.

Unreal (don't laugh)
MOHAA

and for when the FPS guys finally pass out and go to sleep

Age of Empires (1, 2, AoM etc)

I asked people to bring their own PC, some people can't or don't want to, so they are using other peoples when they are not in use. I was also thinking off getting a BB connection set up so people can download the patches when they get here, or would that not work?

Yes, it'll work; and you'll spend half the day pissing about with patches, drivers and so forth.

Sort it beforehand - allows for a much smoother lan party imho.
