    New Catalyst drivers released

ati have released their new cat 3.7 drivers for the Radeon family. Here are some details -

? Pixel Shader processing has been enhanced across all of our DX9 products. As a result, certain PS 2.0 ShaderMark tests are now running as much as 12% faster.
? Unreal Tournament 2003 performance is up considerably for DX9 products running with Anti-Aliasing enabled. This is due to improvements in the driver code for rendering character shadows. For example, the Anubis botmatch test gains as much as 23%

AMD delivers leadership high-performance and adaptive computing solutions to advance data center AI, AI PCs, intelligent edge devices, gaming, & beyond.

24MB for a driver? LOL. And I thought the detonators were getting a bit bloaty.

Still, as long as they increase performance I suppose...

Detonators (the latest, WHQL'd) are only 8meg (english only). The full international one is 16 odd.

Presumably, it's the language files that are bloating it.

Nope!! not the language files. The 3.7 drivers come with built in control panel this time around. Previous ati drivers came seperate and you had to download the control panel as a file in itself.
Seems they've gone the nvidia route and decided to package the whole thing into one easy install.

On a side note, anyone using reforce lock, or any such programs that force a refresh rate, be sure to disable and re'enable after installing the drivers. I myself forgot, and uninstalled the 3.7 because a certain game was glitching like mad. All fine now though.

on a side note ati people have been saying that 3.8 is the big one. Apparently their most innovative drivers yet. Sounds interesting.

Here's a small app to completely remove any trace of old drivers.
