iPhone accelerometer question - is mine too slooow?

    Hi all,
bought a 2nd hand 1st gen iPhone recently and wondered what sort of speed the 'turning' should happen at?
Looking at photos it is quite quick when I turn the iPhone from horizontal to vertical, but there is a small delay. On a WiFi network with a webpage there is an even larger delay. Having not used an iPhone before I was under the impression he accelerometer was pretty good and reacted almost instantly. I just wondered if this was myth? Or if I've bought dodgy goods

It depends how much load is on the CPU at the time, sometimes it is quick sometimes you'll notice it is slow and jerky.

Download some kind of marble maze game from the store and try that out. Most likely the tilt sensor is fine it's just the app taking a while to respond.

Ok cheers guys, I'll give it a proper test in a couple of days when I get back home. Just wasn't sure, but makes sense it's the app!

I doubt there's any fault. None of the accelerometers in phones that alter the orientation work that will, they're always a bit fiddly and the apps normally take a second or two to respond. Frequently when looking at photos I have to sort of shift my iPhone around a bit to get it to orientate correctly.

Some of the stuff has a delay anyway, just so that it's not going to be flicking between landscape and portrait with every little movement. It can vary depending on what the phone happens to be doing at the time - it'll be slow if you catch it when it's checking email, for example - but there's generally at least some delay.
