I am having loads of problems streaming videos from my laptop to my 360. I am pretty sure it is to do with the video formats but, just in case it makes any difference, I'll briefly describe my set up.
I have an Xbox 360 Elite connected to BT Homehub using ethernet cable and a Sony Vaio laptop (running Vista) connected to BT Homehub using wi-fi.
I am pretty sure it is not a network issue as I am able to view pictures and some videos using either Windows Media Center or just by going My Xbox > Video Library > PC and then locating the file. What I cannot seem to do, however, is convert the video files I have to a format that will allow me to stream them.
I have tried converting the files using the 360 settings in both XviD4PSP (I end up with an MP4 file) and Handbrake (I have tried MP4 and AVI) but the files are either not visible from the Xbox 360 or when I try to play them I get a message saying that the file type is not supported.
Does anyone use their 360 to stream videos and, if so, how do you convert video files so that they always work? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am tearing my hair out
