Different 360 PSUs

My freind's 360 arcade psu cable does not fit my premium model (slightly different connectors) however it would be possible to plug it in using the exterior fan as a pass through. They are both PAL units.

What I'd likeo to know, is it different because it will blow mine apart or is it just the usual bull**** microsoft practices?

Don't do this!

The PSU doesn't fit for a reason; it doesn't provide enough juice for your xbox and may cause damage to the PSU because your 360 will try to draw more power than it can give. It may possibly damage the 360 when the PSU ~~melts~~.

The fact that lower power PSU's cannot be connected to older, power hungry 360's is IMO, a neat design feature. You do know that newer (lower power) 360's can use the old PSU, as the connector's have been designed to allow that.

I'd say that's the antithesis of MS bull****.
