msn woes

    msn woes

    Im on xp 64 bit and using msn 8(something) anyhow when i start it up now it tells me i need to upgrade, however when i try upgrade the install fails because it says 64xp isnt supported, so its and endless loop

    hmm are there any ex-microsoft msn clients i can use? anyone recommend a good one? wasnt it trillian or something hmmm havent used that in years

    I'm doing the same thing at the moment.

    Going to try skype for a few hours now.

    There is trillian, pigdin and google talk and plenty of others.

      Yup, I'd recommend Pidgin. Completely free and very lightweight.

            Pidgin is top notch, been using it myself since the old days when it was GAIM. Haven't yet found anything that does the job better. Nice range of little plugins for it too.

              Had a quick look over the plugins/options and can't find one that gives you a permanent mail inbox UI element. Just a message when you have a new mail. Only issue at the mo.

                windows live messenger was the replacement for msn messenger there is a patch here that stops it checking and should let you install it on xp64



                just download the wlm installer and patch it
