Is Ebay my best bet? What other options do I have?

Probably Ebay or local paper. Downside with local papers is you invite the arseholes of the world around to your house.

Yeah Ebay will give you a pretty decent amount for a laptop. There's a big second hand market and they hold their value a lot better than PCs (quite a lot of the auctions are sniped by shops that refurbish them). Just be aware that 90% of any bids will come in the last 12 hours of the auction.
