    Apple Event 9/9/9

Ipod focused event (clearly to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the dreamcast)

    Things that are almost certain:

New touch with camera (probably using the 3g iphone innards)
    New Nano

    Things strongly suspected:

    Apple tablet/netbook

Nano will have a camera too, the case manufacturer Hama at the IFA are exhibiting a new Nano case with a blatant space for a camera in the middle of the back of the device.

The new Touch will most likely use the iPhone 3GS chipset rather than the iPhone 3G's, making it much faster. We're probably going to see a storage bump to 64GB at the top end and 16GB at the bottom end, too, paving the way for a 64GB iPhone next June.

An Apple tablet is unlikely at a special event like this, I'd be extremely surprised if we saw any new products at all. It's a little similar to the event a couple of years back where the subsequent failure of the iPod HiFi was introduced, and the iPod line got minor updates. All signs are pointing to an early 2010 announcement/launch of an Apple tablet, if it does exist.

I'd like to see the classic iPod capacity increased as there a larger 1.8" HDD's out there. Couldn't really care if there are cameras added to the iPod range though.

All the speculation regarding an Apple Tablet is out of control. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple have looked into it and will never release one.

Adding a camera to the Nano would be really interesting (would make for an incredibly small camera) but I'm not sure how they'd fit it in without a bulge.

I think Apple need a new product to show off. There's a risk of their product range stagnating in the public's eyes if they keep doing minor refreshes. I could see them doing a HD focused Apple TV

It's quite doubtful this will happen - all signs point towards the Classic line being discontinued fairly soon. Mind you, the death of the Mac mini is constantly rumoured too and that's shown no sign of happening.

Looks like iTunes 9 will be possibly making an appearance too, heralding Blu-Ray playback in OS X for the first time and allowing for organization of iPhone apps.

There are lenses and sensors now in production which are miniscule in size, I'm sure it's achievable.

How much more HD focused could the Apple TV get? It already only displays in HD (or EDTV via component), and allows rentals/purchases of HD movies and TV shows.

If the iTunes & Apple TV combo went to 1080p for films and TV downloads I would buy one tomorrow.

I wouldn't be too surprised if the iPod classic is set to be discontinued soon but the Mac mini on the other hand needs to be cheaper!

If Apple sold the Mac mini for ?349-399 then they would gather a greater market share along the way.

The Apple TV - which is also fairly overpriced compared to the American price scheme of $229 - why don't they just make the Mac mini the Apple TV itself as you would in theory have 'two products in one'?

The iPods would be more attractive if they were cheaper too.

iPod shuffle for ?49; iPod nano for ?99; iPod touch or ?149 - these being the starting prices.

That way, Apple would definitely have a Merry Christmas!

I don't think they've got much to worry about, tbh. The iPod/iPhone/iTunes Store setup has basically won that race. I mean, sure, they'd probably sell more in numbers if they were cheaper, but I think they value the progressive industrial design and headline feature enhancement that a slightly higher price brings. Plus, they're both the default choice and the market leader. How often does that happen?

                    iPod refreshes
                    AppleTV refresh
iTunes 9 with social networking features (Blu-ray makes no sense considering there's no Macs with BR drives yet)

One more thing....Beatles in iTMS to coincide with remastered CD's and Rock Band release on 09/09/09?

fairly dramatic (for apple) price drops on the current touches, classics and nanos on the US Apple store.

Looks like ipod refreshes all round.

Camera is incredibly likely but I'm not sure I see the point for the touch (for the nano, something that small having a camera is neat).

iPod classic? Wouldn't surprise me if they went solid state and decreased the weight a bit.

Jobs will be making an appearence (one more thing...)

                      Starts 6pm BST

                        Isn't this quite unlike Apple?

Usually the store goes down on the day of the event and reopens with new models immediately available. There have been rumours of camera problems with the new models. My guess is that they can't get them out to market immediately and are dropping the prices of the current models just to give them something to push in the meantime.
