    Anything like Hitman?

I love Blood Money, so I do; but there's only so many times you can play the levels. Are there any other games I should check out? I've played all the Splinter Cells and Hitman 2/Contracts.

Any of the last gen consoles (although PS2 needs fixing) and non-recent PC, as well as Wii/360.

    Thanks.

Although not completely stealth based, Batman: Arkham Asylum has some stealth elements during the campaign and then stealth challenge rooms called Predator Challenges.

        Great game.

Difficult to think of another relatively recent modern setting equivalent to Hitman. Nearest thing I can think of in terms of stealth. multi-option approach and free roaming levels is the Tenchu series. In that I'd also include PS2 Shinobido made by the original Tenchu developers and IMHO
a notably better game than any PS2/XBox Tenchu. However the AI, graphics and animation of both Tenchu and Shinobido are only one step up from the original PSone games and controls/camera almost identical ie. poor. There are plenty of other things to dislike too but the stealth gameplay, within its limits, is good fun and often very demanding.

Maybe the XB360 Tenchu might be a better choice but I've not found anybody with that much good to say about it.

What about the original first Hitman: Codename 47 on pc? I warn you though, its rediculously hard & buggy.

Thanks. All good suggestions. Particularly need to check out the Thief series. I've avoided Codename 47 because I understood Contracts to be a partial remake.

Is there anything that has the sheer variety of assassination options? As opposed to just pure stealth.

Shinobido, as said. You can kill the main and any other targets in whatever way you want. Unlike Tenchu it tends to shy away more from the boss fight every level cliche and gives a variety, if limited. of mission types and options. For instance: attacking a baggage train before it reaches a certain destination. You can stealth kill everybody usually but it can be hard. Much more fun is laying mines, picking off people with long range weapons etc.

There's a whole RPG-ish items creation system where you can make such things as exploding rice balls, poisoned fish - all sorts of things. In one mission I remember trying desperately to stealth kill the main target but I couldn't lure him out of his patrol pattern. Instead I lobbed a rigged bowl of rice into the path of one of his bodyguards. Here's the clever part - if on a previous misson you've destroyed vital food supplies everybody from that faction is hungry in the next mission. Because of this he's more likely to pick it up and if he does and then wanders into the room with target to eat it, boom, you can kill the whole lot in one go.

It's not up to Hitman's variety and the mission locations repeat but it certainly doesn't have to be played as a pure stealth game all the time.

I still think Thief 3 Deadly Shadows is your best bet though.

I can't remember much of contracts, for some reason i keep thinking of it as some sort of expansion for hitman 2. I didn't find it rememborable, like Hitman 2 or Blood Money.

Hitman 47 was good at the time. Its probably aged terribly now, if someone spots you in that game your as good as dead in a matter of nanoseconds. I'd recommend downloading it somewhere first just to try it out to see if its works on whatever operating system your using. The game was buggy the day it was released and it never really got any fixes or updates.

I've never played them but I've been told that the Tenchu games are similar to HM.

There are quite a few of these stealth em ups on the xbox and ps2, but not all of them are worth playing.......... Thief Deadly Shadows is a standout one. I think there was one called Rogue Agent on the xbox, which i got, its not great, but it aint THAT bad either......

Theres always Psi Ops on the xbox and that one done by Free Radical.......... which was a suprise hit for me Second Sight........ had some nice stealth moments. then theres Man hunt of course....... and otherone where you are in jail and its filled with monsters......... forgot its name now, there were two games, but i only got the original.......

oh and have you ever heard of an old series called Metal Gear? Apparently its not bad........

Played the other ones you mentioned, but didn't think of Second Sight. Might have to check it out.

Currently replaying Silent Assassin and Contracts.

I just finished Silent Assassin for the first time (7 years in the making!) and going back to it after so long, I was suprised how much I really still loved it.
