Foil insulation vs Ariel in loft

If I have an full size full ariel in my loft and I insulate the loft with this
Foil backed insulation will it mess up my TV reception? It staples to the beams holding the roof up so it is going above the ariel and not on the floor of the attic like normal insulation.

I think it might do, same goes for lead lining and lead tiles. Best bet is to look for an alternative insulation material, or mount the aerial outside. You could maybe get a satellite dish and a Freesat box if reception is poor (via the aerial).

PStB, it's probably important to recognise that you may lose that 'Mmm, fresh... clean!' smell that you'll have become used to. Can't beat a bit of Ariel!

Having eventually latched onto where the material would be placed, I suppose it could be a problem. Given that even roof tiles can be an excellent screen for the signal (i.e. bad for reception), it's not unrealistic to imagine a significant drop with a foil lining. A search hasn't found anything conclusive on the matter, so it's one to try or as our aged forum friend suggests, consider either an alternative material or mounting the aerial outside.

Just to add to the confusion, between location and equipment used, I have had things that either 'just shouldn't have worked' or brought results far better than expected. It very much depends on your location too and if you have Freeview in mind, contrary to expectation, you could have more leeway regarding a useful signal.

Sorry it's not a simple, 'yes or no' reply. There's too many variables and no way to answer without having used that type of insulation. If I can, I'll look around again and try to pop back if I find any info that can be considered 'definitive'.

I have decided to notch up the floor insulation by 50mm and eventually mount my aerial on the roof then do the foil.

I have also just noticed I spelt aerial like the washing powered! As Andy pointed out...
