    New X360 Help!!

Okay, my Premium is about to die I think. Constant freezing now and it even struggles to connect to Live despite my wireless connection being okay. I have just ordered an Elite so have a couple of queries:

    1. How will I get my Gamertag onto my new 360? I dont have a memory unit or data transfer cable etc. I presumed it might be as easy as say, accessing your email account from a different PC to the one you use regularly?

    2. How do I go about getting all of my XLBA content over. Is that linked into the above or do I have to use the online DRM tool?

I think that's it for now. Thanks for reading.

    1. You use 'gamertag recovery' which works much as you describe.

    2. You can queue up a bunch of content using Xbox.com (which saves you clicking through page after page on the Xbox itself) and then you have to transfer the rights from your old Xbox to your new one, so you can play your content offline.

You can download all the stuff you've bought (DLC, XBLA games) as many times as you like for free. It is tied to your gamertag, so as long as you're signed in to XBL, you can use it.

Alternatively, use the license transfer page on xbox.com to transfer the license to your new xbox so that you don't need to be signed in to XBL to use it. You can only do this once in any 12-month window tho.

To get your gamertag onto your new console, use the "Recover Gamertag" option on the dashboard.

      EDIT: yeah, what pat said.

Thanks for that, sounds quite straightforward then. Hopefully it will go without a hitch.

Sorry, another thing has cross my mind. Will my MS points (not Gamerscore) balance carry over when I recover my Gamertag?

          Thanks again

Should do, that's tied to your gamertag as well.

My machine was a little unhealthy (I'd upgraded to 120 Mb) so bought an Arcade machine and put the old HD on it and proceeded to download everything again. I still have a few games to uninstall (and possibly) reinstall on the hard disk. Took a while to download everything
