    New PC Problem

Bit of advice needed. Bought a new pc today to put together. When i came to switch it on, nothing happened. I've checked the 4pin and 24pin cables running from the PSU, checked the case power and reset cables a dozen times, checked if any jumpers interfering, reseated the ram in various modules, reseated the cpu/sink and reseated the motherboard. The PSU is a 550w Corsair, when it's connected to the motherboard, the green led in the middle of the board lights up, but nothing else. I'm using a surge protector and have narrowed it down to either a faulty psu, faulty board or fault case. Won't switch on using the min amount of hardware either

    Any more ideas?

Check for any contacts between the mobo and the case. Have you used the plastic insulators between the mobo and the spacers?
Do you have any other PC to test the PSU with?
Tried to power up the PC without the surge protector? Maybe the output wave isn't particularly liked by the PSU and it won't power up, providing tension only on 5v line.

Thank you very much, i placed a spacer in the wrong umm space and the board was lying on the metal of the case. Such and oversight Thanks again mate.
