    360 VGA Question - help!

Hopefully I'm doing something really dumb here - if anyone could help me out with this I'd greatly appreciate it.

I had a J-360 with no HDMI port which was working great over VGA in HD, but it died and for the moment I've got myself a PAL Elite (Jasper w/ HDMI). Just tried the exact same lead with it and when prompted configured it for 1920 x 1080, which set, but not 'right' - for one the display was far too wide horizontally. Jumped back a menu and can see it's saying there's no HD lead connected, which presumably is the source of the problem.

How can I change this? I know the lead and the monitor both support HD, and from Googling and searching about here the best I've found is that the leads supplied with an elite have a switch on them to go between SD & HD, but as I'm not using them I can't do this.

    Help!

The SD/HD switch are only on the Component cable that come with the console, not VGA.

Did 1920x1200 work fine then? You should be able to 'shift' the image on the monitor itself, either manually or by using some kind of 'auto' button.

Ok, glad to know it is definitely the cables themselves that have the switch.

I don't actually get an option for 1920x1200 - that is what I used to be on and is my monitor's native res, but currently the highest option is 1920x1080. Even when using it, it doesn't look quite right, and the auto button on my monitor doesn't correct it to fit the screen correctly. The message I get on the menu just before you choose the res is "Connect an Xbox 360 HD AV cable to configure high definition display modes".
