Modding a U.S. GC... in Japan

Apologies for posting another question regarding this subject, but in my opinion my situation is a bit different, and since there are a few forumites here living in Japan, I'm hoping that someone might help me with my dilemma. As it is written in the subject line, I am looking to have my GameCube modded to be able to play both Japanese and U.S. games, after having been disappointed with Freeloader's results with running certain games like Mr. Driller: Drill Land.

The problem, however, is that I am living in Japan -and, not only that, in the Tohoku area, a place not very well known for being a technology-obsessed region, to say the least. I have been inquiring about this matter in plenty of game shops here -unsuccessfully- and the best answer I could get was that modding a GC is done only in Akihabara. Admittedly, I don't think that Akihabara is the only place in Japan where his can be done, but it means I'll have to send my GC away to have it modded.

The problem, however, is that I don't know where I could send it to be modded, and I'm afraid that if I were to undertake the procedure myself, I'm certain that after I'm done, the only thing that my GC would be able to play would be Neo Geo CD games. (The tragedy being that the games wouldn't be able to fit into the GC, of course.)

So, does anyone know someone or some store that would be willing to mod my GameCube for me? Cost is not so much an issue as is quality, in my opinion; but I would appreciate it if the place where I could send my G.C. were close to the Tohoku region, of course.

    Thanks in advance.

I don't know of any stores that could do it for you, but it is a very easy mod to do. Have you not considered doing it yourself ?

I did my mod myself and i had never done anything like it before.

Thanks for the help, but, as I wrote above, I'm useless with anything more complicated than a screwdriver. No, really. The thing I fear the most is that making a mistake would prove fairly expensive...
