    Stop me buying new consoles!

After reading a few posts on this forum (maninly psp Go) it got me thinking,

    Why am i considering
Swapping my PS3 to the PS3 slim
Swapping my Wii to the new black version
Swapping my PSP slim for a PSP Go
Swapping my navy DS for a DSi

There is no need for any of these, there is no justification whatsever but I am wavering.

Please make me see sense or leave me be to p*ss my money away.

Don't get a DSi unless there are downloads you are desperate for. Not worth the premium and the region locking on DSi enhanced titles is unacceptable.

Nintendo are probably 12 months (or less if they unveil at E3) from showing off a proper DS followup.

PSP Go = avoid avoid avoid. Expensive and Sony's treatment of the online store is pretty crap (especially the EU one).

PS3 slim = is a slight reduction in size really worth the £50+ you'll have to spend trading in?

Wii black = black is an awesome colour you should pay Nintendo twice as much over the regular Wii to buy one. That's too incredibly awesome to pass up. I can't believe they're pricing it as much as the white one! I'd pay much more!

There you go answered your own question
All you need to do is think only 2 things will happen.
You dont piss away your money and enjoy the consoles you own.
      Or
You do piss away your money and enjoy the same consoles you owned in a different style, bar DSi as that actually has new stuff on it and access to DSi Ware.
Whatever the decision, just don't regret it a week later and you will be fine.

There was a programme on BBC Four a few weeks ago about the human desire to constantly upgrade. The conclusion drawn was people believe their gadgets are a reflection of themselves, that they define who they are. They also have the strange belief that upgrading to the latest version will somehow complete their lives by filling in the holes and bring a sense of order to their lives. Dunno how true that is for most people but it's an interesting theory.

So, yeah, maybe that's why you want to upgrade. Or maybe it's not and you'd find the new features in most those upgrades genuinely useful. I dunno... this is a meaningless post, best you ignore it.

The boredom of backing up and restoring system settings, plus a few games are tied to the console itself.

Swapping my Wii to the new black version
How will you transfer savegames and Wiiware/VC titles?

Swapping my PSP slim for a PSP Go
How will you play games that are UMD only?

Swapping my navy DS for a DSi
You'll lose region-free capability, right now DSiware isn't exactly hot and there are two (I think) games for the DSi only.

Please make me see sense or leave me be to p*ss my money away.
Extra option: give them to me.

Dead easy. You've not mentioned one game in that post. A hardware whore.

Do yourself a favour, save your cash and buy COD MW2 in a couple of weeks.

PS3 upgrade is pointless besides the size issue. If you ain`t already buy yourself a 320gb or more Hard drive for your current PS3 instead.

If a person is lucky enough to have a 'fat' PS3 with PS2 backwards compatibility, they should treasure it and laugh at the idea of trading it in for a slim. My housemates curse the lack of backwards compatibility on their 40GB machines.

The only 'upgrade' in that list that might make sense is the DS to DSi, and that would depend on what you play (DSi-enhanced games? WPA-enabled games?). And even then, you have to decide whether the trade-off (lack of GBA slot) is worth the extras. In my case, it's not.

Well, the Wii change has happened- the white wii is now in the lounge so the better half can wii fit and such like.

The rest I'm not wavering as much now. Thanks guys.

I think you like buying stuff more than you like games.

Seriously, I never understood people buying a new machine just because of a different colour, the amount of people I've seen sell their ds-lite to buy a ds-lite in another colour is just amazing.
