PS3 Slim in USA

Moving back to the USA in about a year, I was going to pick up a UK PS3 slim to go with my US PS3.

I want to get a UK slim, but what is the PSU on the console? Is it like the original PS3 where I am able to just change to a kettle lead to plug it in?

Same as I believe, switchable PSU miraculously contained within the unit.

So you have to open the console to change it? I don't want to mess anything up. Is it possible to just use a plug adapter to go from a UK plug to a US plug?

I think by 'switchable' he means switchable voltage, i.e multi-voltage.

Autoswitchable to be specific.

Check the label.

If it says something like 100~240v you're golden. Just need a regular American power cable.

The slim uses the same power cable as a Saturn, Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, PlayStation etc. The figure of 8 one.

In that case you want one of these:

Or you can just use the same cable that came with your UK Playstation/2/Saturn/Dreamcast/whatever, and stick in a 5A fuse.
