    Flashed wrong firmware

    Hello,

My NEC ND-3530A wasn't burning properly so I decided to flash to version 3.1 without dumping the original file, it was fine. Then I decided to flash to 3.23, I restarted and my dvd drive made a clicking noise, I realised I flashed the wrong firmware.

I'm trying to flash back to 3.1 but it keeps telling me error entering safe mode, error flashing firmware. What do I do?

There is some info on this page http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/page/en/FAQ/
Given the age of the device and if the hassle is too much take a hit, learn from your mistake and buy a Pioneer. They are about £20 new these days.

Well an engineer is coming on Tuesday to replace the current drive, I hope it's much better since I bought this computer in summer 05 (ram and hdd have been upgraded). What's the best way to check what exactly the new drive would be capable of?

Nero info tool will do the job.
