Wireless router security Q

My old wireless router died today, so I picked up a new one to replace it.

I got it all working with my netbook, imac and iphone easily - but wondered if I had chosen the best method for security?

This is what I am using:

1) WPA/WPA2 (I used to use WEP in the past for some reason)

2) MAC address control. I added my 3 wireless devices here so in theory no other unauthorised device can connect.

Does this seem sensible or should I be thinking about hiding SSID, etc? THe last think I want is for The Real Hustlers to park up outside my door and say they have hacked my Gmail account then laugh at me!

Any advice would be great!

If your router and wireless adapters support it, then the most secure method is to choose WPA2-PSK with AES encryption (and a suitably secure key, of course). SSID broadcast doesn't matter so much, but you can turn it off anyway if you don't need it.

Don't bother with the MAC filter. It is a pain to administer and offers little protection.
WPA2 will be very secure if as mentioned you have a long enough key.
