Normally the X is Blue when I start up, when I turned it on last night to play Kirbys Avalanche, the X was Orange.

Is this merely aesthetic or is there a more sinister meaning to it

Purely aesthetic. The Xecuter 2.1/2.2 chips have two BIOS banks, but by default I just leave them both flashed with the latest Xecuter 2 BIOS, except one has a blue logo, the other orange. You can select between them using the Bank 1/2 switch.
