pioneer amp + Ps3 Blu-ray playback problem. HELP!

Ok, so this is really started to peev me off. I've had a Pioneer vsx-ax2av amp for a few years now, and I used to be able to run my Ps3 through it no problem. I had to downgrade to sd for a while, so I just used it for dolby 5.1 through an optical cable. I've recently bought a new Samsung LCD, so naturally I want to go back to my old set up so I can have lovely Linear PCM sound.

This is where it gets annoying. I've got everything set up the way I used to have it, and the XMB and games all display fine but when I try to play a Blu ray the screen just goes blank, no sound, no nothing, and after a few seconds the no signal sign appears on my tv. I can't for the life of me figure this out, and I can't find anything on the net to help, so any info on why this would happen / advice would be greatly appreciated!

If you hook the PS3 to the TV direct does it work? You should do that first so that your PS3 can work out the capabilities of your TV. Maybe your amp is reporting 24p supports but your TV doesn't for example?

Hard reset your PS3 (this will reset all your settings. It won't delete date or anything though).

Power the PS3 off using the button on the front. Wait a few seconds and then power it on using the button on front of PS3 but keep button pressed down for about 10 seconds and it'll go through the detecting display shenanigans. That may do the job (has worked for others in the past).

No worries. I think you'll find the 24p support has been deactivated. Your amp does not support this feature apparently although Pioneer may have a firmware update to allow it. I leave this as an exercise for the reader ;-)
