I found that while playing games my JP Dreamcast would randomly reset. Not the hard reset like the power supply is dodgy but the sort of reset that would happen if you were to open the lid and then close it again. I went through a few replacement drives trying to find one that fit exactly and also a few lids I think until it appeared fine. It's been in the attic for a few years and now it's doing the same thing again 
Bit of a side question but does anyone know if you could just solder across the switch points to have it permanently closed? I can't think of any good reasons why I'd need to open the lid mid-game. I swear I tried sticking tape across the switch to hold it down and that didn't work (I have a feeling it may close midway instead of when it's pushed all the way back)
