    PS3 rlod...

Ok, my daughter's xmas present (eyepet) is stuck in there. Is there a way to get it out?

    Ta.

Nope, when I sent off my YLOD PS3 to continuous play I had to wait 5 weeks to get my RE5 disc back too. Theres no way unless you strip it down I guess, but even then the bd drive is a sealed unit pretty much.

Thought not. Cheers anyway mate. Replacing it on 30th but I'm gonna get a slim from argos today anyway (unless anyone knows of a better high street deal?). I don't play ps2 stuff anymore really so I'll sell the 60gig when it comes back and let it go to someone who has more need of it.

I managed to get a game out of a YLOD'd ps3 a couple of weeks ago. Not idea but I used a hairdryer through the vents at the back of the machine to heat it up, then turned it on by pressing eject.

Took about 20 seconds before it YLOD's again but was enough time to get the disc out. I actually read about doing it on the official sony forums of all places!

There's no way back from RLOD then?

No. I think not mate. I did extensive research when mine died. USB memory sticks are your friend.

This really seems to be catching on over the last few months. I known a few launch 60gb which have had the ylod. Sony charge £128 to repair it, which is a disgrace in my book as this seems to be a common problem as noted by watchdog.

I was lucky as I signed up for continuous play when they were still accepting memberships and even people with dead systems, now it costs me £5 a month but I'm pretty sure they'll honour existing customers claims.

                      The thing is though

Yes, its down, does this mean I'm paying a fiver for nothing I wonder.

They closed that off because too many people abused it.

One doesn't think to do this until they become a victim I suppose. Easy for you to say! Backing up a save every time I retire from a gaming session is a bit poopy!

Don't know whether to get mine fixed or just buy a new slim and sell my RLOD for about 70 quid or something.

                            I know.

I should phone their warranty center or something really to see if I'm paying a fiver for nothing, I'll cancel if so, before the site vanished completely they did say they would honour existing customers claims, though.

                            hmm

Ring them to make sure. But I have a friend who was on it and they fixed his PS3.
